#Project Milf: Fav four
Today marks the fourth week of Project Milf (Motivating, Inspiring, Leading, Female). We are a group of ladies striving to successfully meet our goals by encouraging and keeping each other accountable!
This week is all about our favorites! I will be revealing four of my fav things that help me in achieving my goals!
My four favorite things are:
1. Feeling my little one move around
2. Relaxing with my wonderful husband
3. Reading a good book
4. Taking walks in the beautiful spring weather!
My overall goal is to make healthy choices for myself and my baby.
Last week’s mini-goal was to relax and have more “me” time. It was a super-successful week! Reaching my goal was a breeze!
I started a great new book (Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn). I took a nice long nap on Sunday afternoon. I had yesterday morning off from work and I stayed in bed reading until 9 AM! Overall, I would say it was a super-successful week in reaching my goal.
Now on to next week’s goal…which I don’t’ think will be quite as breezy. Yesterday afternoon I had a disappointing doctor’s appointment. I was told that I gained too much (much too much) weight this month. I was slightly humiliated being told this and having to go through my diet with my midwife in front of my husband. I’ve been struggling (against my will) with body image issues since the pregnancy began. I keep telling myself that the body changes are normal…but sometimes when I look in the mirror I feel fat and unattractive.
I was also upset because a few weeks ago I was doing so well; and I seem to have fallen off the wagon big time! Darn you Girl Scouts! ;)
I still pack my healthy snacks…and eat them. But I have also been sneaking in other (not-so-healthy) snacks; like Oreos, Girl Scout Cookies (Thin Mints are my fav) and Pop Tarts.
Sometimes, having a goal means learning from your mistakes and reevaluating whether or not your strategy is successful.
This week I have two mini-goals:
1. Create a balanced diet for myself and stick to it (not just one week)!
2. Work on embracing my pregnancy body (and prepare myself for my post-pregnancy body)

It's so hard to stick to a diet when you're pregnant! I remember eating a whole package of Oreos one day, and then the next day everything made me feel nauseous! Just know that we all know exactly how you feel. Everything will work out fine, and I'm sure you'll be able to achieve your goals this week!
There is no way that I could imagine you going all out and putting on a massive amount of weight during your pregnancy and for your doctor to humiliate you like that has really annoyed me Alex, it's unfair. Please remember to enjoy yourself during this pregnancy and not stress about weight too much, you're going to be a wonderful mother Alex so don't worry too much :) Ps is that your bump? Super cute.
Even though weight gain in pregnancy is normal, it doesn't make it easy! It was always hard for me to see the scale go up. I would focus on my healthy baby and that would help, but the best thing for me was focusing on my fitness plan post-pregnancy. It helped me feel more in control to plan it out. And now that I've had our little girl, I love following my plan and knowing I'm making healthy decisions for my little girl and myself. Hang in there. It's hard, I know it is, but worth it. (As cliche as that sounds.)
And isn't feeling the baby move so fun?!
It's definitely hard but honestly what your body is doing right now is just beautiful...your baby is healthy....you just need to make more healthier choices than not...one of the worst part about being pregnant is the constant reminder of your weight but it's all for the good of the baby:-) yaah for relaxing week and even awesome hubby!
I am also disappoined your doctor made a big deal about your weight gain...I can tell you know that some months you will gain a lot and then the next month gain almost none. In the end you will gain what you need to grow your baby and have him/her be healthy! Don't stress too much about it. Eat as healthy as you can, keep active and it will all work out. I am sure you are a beautiful pregnant lady! Enjoy it, it only lasts a short while!
Oh, no! Please don't be too hard on yourself. Every woman puts on weight differently when she's pregnant, and the important thing is that your baby is healthy and that you feel OK. I'm sure you'll be better next month. It's hard to look at yourself against other benchmarks, but you're starting off right by just taking care of yourself! :)
Thanks for your support! I really appreciate it!
Growing my little one is such a beautiful and wonderful thing!
I can't wait to meet him!!! :)
I am so happy you managed to have a 'me time', you deserve it. growing a human being is not easy on our bodies, but I am happy you are embracing the sweet moments of pregnancy, being at one with your little boy and feel all his moves. when I was pregnant I always marveled at how amazing it's that my body could change so much for a little person, but just like you I embraced it because it was growing a labour of love.
your weekly mini goals are very great, in this way you don't feel overwhelmed.
keep up the good work and
Your four things are definitely great ones particularly feeling the baby move. Relaxing is always important particularly when you are pregnant. Looking forward to seeing you achieve even more goals in the upcoming weeks.s
